Our Vision

“A state where authentic biblical values flourish.”

Here at FPIW Action, we defend the family. As a lobbyist, I currently represent 87,000 people across Washington State. Join us. Let’s unite for the mission and see the change we desire right here in our home.

Prayer Warriors: “And everyone said . . . !”

“To get nations back on their feet, we must first get down on our knees.”
– Billy Graham

To Our Defenders!

We are now in the final days of the 2025 Legislative Session. What a journey it has been together, and we are so grateful to share it with you.

As you may know, the time for public input has closed, and so there are no longer any Action Alerts requesting your ‘Pro-or-Con’ registration. Bills are now being debated on the floor by legislators, and you can watch all the ‘Yea-or-Nay’ action on TVW.org.

Our Weapon of Prayer

As I was explaining the closure of the Pro-Con registration to an acquaintance this week, they made a comment that raised my ire: ‘Well, I guess we can’t do anything else but pray.’

Perhaps, fellow Defenders, this attitude may be one of the primary reasons we find ourselves in the predicament we are in politically.

We need the Church to engage culture in all ways, and especially prayer. Paul instructs us in 1 Timothy 2:2 to pray for ‘kings and all those in authority’. In light of the key role government plays in society, the Church’s first response should be to pray earnestly. Prayer is not ‘the only thing left to do’ … it is the primary thing we must do.

Praying for our government leaders is not just a duty but a strategic act of faith. For as the church goes, so goes the culture – and its politics. A praying Church is engaged.

We pray because our prayers make an impact. As the Christian philosopher Blaise Pascal famously reminds us: ‘Why God has established prayer: to communicate to His creatures the dignity of causality.’ Just as our physical acts impact reality, our spiritual acts of prayer impact reality, too.

Prayer is a spiritual weapon. It is warfare. It is an invasion into dark, ‘enemy-occupied territory,’ as C. S. Lewis wrote. It shifts spiritual terrain. We intercede for those we love, and our prayers can uniquely reach places in the human heart that nothing else in human power can touch.

The Prayer Tour

To that end, FPIW instituted a Prayer Tour 2025. The Tour has been led by our own Director of Church and Grassroots Relationships, Pastor Ken Ramey. Ken has been faithful to spend time in prayer with these fellow prayer warriors:

• in our Supreme Court
• in our Governor’s Office
• over our State Seal
• in the House and Senate chambers
• and outside the public hearing rooms, just to name a few.

To date, nearly 350 people have participated in our Prayer Tour, and he also has connected with many people around the campus who see him praying daily.

In fact, as a special honor, he was invited to give the opening prayer for the House of Representatives!

Pray for a Legislator

In addition to the Tour, FPIW has also instituted our ‘Adopt an Elected’ program. This program encourages you to sign up and pray daily for local and state-wide political figures.

Once you have signed up, FPIW sends a letter to your ‘adoptee’ and lets them know that you are specifically praying for them on a daily basis.

As we enter into the last week of debate on some contentious bills and move on to budget negotiations, there is no better time to quickly sign-up to pray for a legislator.

Praying with Legislators

At the national level, we have seen the fruits of prayer: the decline of DEI, a defense of girls’ sports, and the deportation of illegal immigrants.

At the state level, one of the great joys of my job is to pray with legislators and join in alliance for our state, and I believe we are witnessing some fruits of our faithful prayers. For instance, at the recent Governor’s Prayer Breakfast, I witnessed firsthand two Democratic lawmakers lead public prayer.

At that same event, Governor Bob Ferguson spoke about his ‘faith’ publicly for the first time and teared up while speaking about the power of his mother’s prayers for him.

Yes, our state continues to be impacted by bad laws, corruption, and injustice. But let me ask you two questions:

• How much worse could it be if Christians didn’t pray?

• What if we simply gave up and allowed Satan to carry out his schemes without interference?

We may never know what impact our prayers are having – but God is still at work, and we need to be faithful to do our role and partner with Him.

If your church or Bible Study group has not yet committed to participate in our Prayer Tour, or if you have not ‘Adopted an Elected’, please do so today. Session is not scheduled to end until Sunday, April 27th, so there is still time to sign-up.

Let me end with a quotation I hope you will like:

“To be a prayer warrior is to engage in the spiritual battle and fight the good fight of faith wearing the full armor of God and ‘praying in the Spirit in all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests’ (Ephesians 6:18).”

And everyone said…!
